Don on Oct. 24, 2011

I'm the guy that answers the badging question. Just traded my BMW X5 diesel for a 2011 Touareg Hybrid and have no regrets at all. Having owned all of the premium brands at one time or another, the Touareg is a considerably better all around vehicle than the BMW X5. Although it truly does not handle as sharply and communicatively as the BMW, it is "very" close indeed. It does however far exceed the BMW in overall build quality and torsional strength ( a true Germanic vault), ride comfort, rigidity and quality, interior quietness and design ammenities, drivetrain power, and overall driving refinement. It is really more akin to a tall, refined touring sedan than a tall SUV (truck).....and it does indeed have V8 power and torque with a much greener attitude at the pump!

You mentioned that standard equipment includes heated seats. This suggests that only leather or leatherette wil be available on the standard 2.5 model. I thought cloth seats would also be available. Is this true, or will the 2012 Beetle only come with leather? I want cloth seats. Leather is expensive and miserable on hot summer days.

Hi Mico,
You are right - but only because you are in the USA...
Audi put the conventional Auto with tip in just for you guys...
You seem to miss out on lots of options on all your imported cars.
Here in ROW (I'm in Australia), we get all the goodies... My Q5 not only has an s-tronic box (7-speed DSG) but a TDI engine too.

Too bad VW kills an otherwise good car by not offering the manual on lux and executive editions. VW's are awesome and I have owned many of them, but they are starting to get like all the boring manufacturers that offer manuals only on their base models as a cost saver instead of a desirable performance item. I want luxury features and a manual.

I have a 2010 Audi A4 Premium Plus Quattro which is only one of very few models that have the wonderful combination of AWD, Manual, and high feature content.
